Katy ISD report cards 2026-27: when grades post and how to check them

2026-10-14 5 min read By Carol Jukes, Broker/Owner

Katy ISD posts report cards electronically through Home Access Center (HAC), the district's parent portal, at the end of each grading cycle. Elementary and secondary schools run on separate grading calendars, so a fourth-grader's report card does not arrive on the same schedule as a high-schooler's. As of mid-October 2026, the first elementary grading period has just wrapped up, which means the first elementary report cards of the year are posting in HAC around now.

Katy ISD posts report cards electronically through Home Access Center (HAC), the district's parent portal, at the end of each grading cycle. Elementary and secondary schools run on separate grading calendars, so the dates differ by level. For the 2026-27 school year, the school year started Wednesday, August 12, 2026, and the first elementary grading period has just ended, which means the first elementary report cards are posting in HAC around now. This guide walks through how the grading cycles work, the confirmed 2026-27 dates, and where to find the exact release dates for your campus.

Katy ISD runs two grading calendars, not one

A common point of confusion for new Cinco Ranch families: the district does not put every student on a single grading schedule. Secondary schools (junior high and high school) run roughly six grading cycles of about six weeks each, while elementary schools run on their own offset schedule of fewer, longer cycles. The district publishes the begin date of each cycle on its official instructional calendar, and report cards post in HAC at the end of each cycle. Progress reports are issued mid-cycle, per the district's student handbook.

The 2026-27 dates that matter

These cycle begin dates come from the official Katy ISD instructional calendar for 2026-27, the same calendar every Cinco Ranch campus follows. The district lists begin dates rather than a single district-wide report-card day, so the cycle start is the reliable anchor.

  • First day of school: Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
  • Secondary Cycle 1 began August 12, 2026; Cycle 2 began September 21, 2026; Cycle 3 begins November 3, 2026.
  • Elementary Cycle 1 began August 12, 2026; Elementary Cycle 2 begins October 14, 2026, right after the October fall break.
  • Fall semester ends with an early-dismissal day on Friday, December 18, 2026.
  • Spring semester begins Tuesday, January 5, 2027, starting the next secondary and elementary cycles.

Report cards and progress reports live in Home Access Center

HAC has been the district's official parent portal since 2012 and is still the system in use for 2026-27. Official report cards for both elementary and secondary students are posted electronically in HAC, and parents can also view assignments, test scores, attendance, and schedules there. The Katy OnTheGo app shows the same grades and assignments, using the same HAC login, which is convenient for checking on a phone.

Where to find the exact release dates

Katy ISD does not publish one district-wide list of every report-card release date on its instructional calendar. Exact dates are set at the campus level and posted on the district's calendar page and on each campus's page. Rather than guessing, check the district calendar and your child's campus calendar, and if your child just enrolled, ask the front office when the first report card for their grade level is expected.

These are the district's own pages, so what they show is the official version.

Why this matters for Cinco Ranch families

Grading cycles and HAC access work the same district-wide, but the campus your child attends does not. Cinco Ranch homes zone to different elementary, junior high, and high schools depending on the exact address, so while the report-card system is uniform, the campus calendar you check is specific to your school. New families should set up HAC access through their child's campus shortly after enrollment; that is where the first report card of the year will land.
